The exbD2 gene as well as the iron-uptake genes tonB, exbB and exbD1 of Xanthomonas capestris pv. campestris are essential for the induction of a hypersensitive response on pepper (Capsicum annuum)
Article Abstract:
The exbD2 gene of Xanthomonas capestris pv. campestris is required for induction of a hypersensitive response on the nonhost pepper (Capsicum annuum). The ferric-iron-uptake genes exbB, tonB and exbD1 are also necessary. Mutational analysis has been carried out. The induction of typical black rot symptoms on the host plant Brassica oleracea, cauliflower, has also been studied. The ferric-iron-uptake genes are required for induction of an HR response on it as well.

Characterization of a tonB mutation in Erwinia chrysanthemi 3937: TonB(sub)Ech is a member of the enterobacterial TonB family
Article Abstract:
Insertion mutation in the gene tonB of Erwinia chrysanthemi 3937 produces mutants deficient in the production of achromobactin and in the transportation of iron-siderophores. Data indicate that the insertion mutation however, stimulates the pathogenicity of the bacterium by enhancing the pectinolytic activity in the mutants.

Neisserial TonB-dependent outer-membrane proteins: detection, regulation and distribution of three putative candidates identified from the genome sequences
Article Abstract:
Neisserial TonB-dependent outer-membrane proteins are discussed. A study used detection, regulation and distribution of three putative candidates identified from the genome sequences. One of the candidates is a potential vaccine candidate. Expression of TdfH is not affected by iron availability. .
