The future of scientific meeting
Article Abstract:
Scientific meetings provide the researchers the environment to gather, discuss common interest and complex topics at length and then retire to a private bar at an isolated location to network over drinks and even late nights. Some of the concerns researchers face owing to the increasing number of scientific meetings every year are discussed such as increasing pace of modern scientific discovery, the lack of time and the competition for grant money that funds these conferences.

Why you should be annotating: Scientists who rely on accurate gene predictions should share in the burden of creating them
Article Abstract:
Scientists gain free access to enormously expensive and annotated sequence databases online, the product of teams of, yet when users notice errors in annotation and realize that a gene model is incorrect, they do not report it. Model organism databases generally provide mechanisms to add new gene models or correct errant ones either via-E-mail or Web-based forms so that accuracy can be maximized.

Transplanting islets for diabetes
Article Abstract:
Islet transplantation is proving to be effective in the small subgroup of patient with type I diabetes (TIDM) by protecting them from severe and incapacitating hypoglycemic reactions. However, the major obstacles in the treatment include the survival of islet, unlimited cell supply source, and methods and ways to overcome the natural barrier of immune system to a transplant.
