The homologous regulators ANR of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and FNR of Escherichia coli have overlapping but distinct specificities for anaerobically inducible promoters
Article Abstract:
A series of synthetic promoters is constructed to study the functions of anaerobically inducible promoters in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. Results indicate that the homologous regulators ANR and FNR can functionally replace each other under certain conditions and that some promoters carrying a mutant FNR-binding site are recognized more clearly by ANR than FNR. Moreover, RNA polymerases of P. aeruginosa and E. coli seem to have different -10 sequence specificities.

Dihydroaeruginoic acid synthetase and pyochelin synthetase, products of the pchEF genes, are induced by extracellular pyochelin in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the siderophore pyochelin of Pseudomonas aeruginosa derived from two molecules of cysteine and one molecule of salicylate. Two new genes, termed as pchE and pchF, which encode peptide synthetases involved in the sequential formation of Dha and pyochelin, are described. Results demonstrated that autodinduction by pyochelin and repression by iron ensure a sensitive control of the pyochelin pathway in P aeruginosa.
