The less travelled road in microbial genetics
Article Abstract:
An alternative type of gene mapping called physical mapping was proposed to study the microbial gene arrangement of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The advantages of this type of mapping were the accurate measurement of genome size, applicability to any bacteria independent of in vivo limitations and compatibility with sequence data. The other element supplementing the significance of physical mapping was the whole genome sequencing which produced nucleotide sequences of the entire genome.

Anaerobic pathways of glycerol dissimilation by Enterobacter agglomerans CNCM 1210: limitations and regulations
Article Abstract:
The metabolic behaviour of Enterobacter agglomerans that grows anaerobically in a continous culture with glycerol or glucose as the only carbon source was investigated. Carbon flow distribution at branching metabolic points and the regeneration of reducing equivalents were monitored. The activities of major enzymes involved in the dissimilation of glycerol and nucleotide pools were quantified.
