The nucleolus as a stress sensor: JNK2 inactivates the transcription factor TIF-IA and down-regulates rRNA synthesis
Article Abstract:
The mechanism underlying the stress-dependent inhibition of RNA polymerase I (Pol I) transcription is investigated showing that the Pol I-specific transcription factor TIF-IA is inactivated upon stress. The data obtained identified TIF-A as a downstream target of the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) pathway and suggested a critical role for JNK2 to protect rRNA synthesis against the harmful consequences of cellular stress.

The Sox9 transcription factor determines glial fate choice in the developing spinal cord
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on transcription factor Sox9. The authors describe the study of the mice spinal cord development where Sox9 has been ablated from neural stem cells by the CRE/loxP recombination system.
