The pancreatic beta cell heats up: UCP2 and insulin secretion in diabetes
Article Abstract:
The authors review the publications on the pancreatic beta cell which responds to small changes in the blood glucose concentration via insulin secretion regulation. The topics of interest include the uncoupling glucose metabolism from ATP generation and its effect on the beta cell ability to secrete insulin in response to glucose.
