Unveiling of novel radiations within Trichodesmium cluster by hetR gene sequence analysis
Article Abstract:
The relationship between Katagnymene spp. and Trichodesmium spp. using both 16S rRNA gene and hetR gene sequences isolated from natural populations and cultures of members of both genera is determined. It is concluded that the known morphological traits is used to differentiate marine nonheterocystous cyanobacteria at the genus and species levels is correlated poorly with genetic data.

Toward a more robust assessment of intraspecies diversity, using fewer genetic marker
Article Abstract:
A demonstration that phylogenies of closely related organisms based on the average nucleotide identity (ANI) of their shared genes correspond accurately to phylogenies based on state-of-the-art analysis of their whole-genome sequences is presented. The phylogenic robustness of every gene in the genome is evaluated using ANI.

Epilithic cyanobacterial communities of a marine tropical beach rock (Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef): Diversity and diazotrophy
Article Abstract:
The study presents and explains the diversity and diazotrophy of the epilithic cyanobacterial communities of a marine tropical beach rock (Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia). These epilithic cyanobacteria are found to be extreme significance, as they are the principal nitrogen fixers of the Heron Island beach rock.
