We have met the enemy, and he is us: What infectious disease says about humanity's penchant for self-destruction
Article Abstract:
Man's greatest enemy is man himself which leads him towards the path of self-destruction, clearly evident from the spread of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis in which people who suffer from the disease stop taking their daily dose of antibiotics once they feel a little better. It is necessary to take antibiotics for a particular period, but in the case of AIDS even though educated people know how it is spread and what to do about it, they get carried away and ignore precautions in the heat of passion.

Disease control by decree: How not to deal with epidemics
Article Abstract:
The breakout of epidemic diseases like cholera, dengue, avian flu and SARS is sometimes not reported to World Health Organization (WHO) for fear that importing countries might ban exports from such countries or that tourists may be discouraged to visit the nation. As a result, WHO is planning to improve International Health Regulations, which would give the organization the right to publicly report an epidemic with internationally implications if a country delays in reporting it.
