Wolbachia requirement for oogenesis: Occurrence within the genus Asobara (Hymenotera, Braconidae) and evidence for intraspecific variation in A. tabida
Article Abstract:
Wolbachia are symbiotic bacteria that induce a diversity of phenotypes on their numerous invertebrate host species and in the wasp Asobara tabida (Broconidae), each individual harbors three Wolbachia strains, wAtab3, which is required for host oogenesis, and wAtab1 and wAtab2, that do not have this function but induce cytoplasmic incompatibility. Wolbachia strains are surveyed and identified in four additional Asobara species.

Genetics of female functional virginity in the Parthenogenesis-Wolbachia infected parasitoid wasp Telenomus nawai (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae)
Article Abstract:
The genetic basis of the females' inability to reproduce sexually by introgressing the genome of a thelytokous line into an arhenokous line is determined. The results suggest that the mutations are recessive and inherited either as single-locus major gene with some modifiers, or as two partially linked loci.

Single-locus complementary sex determination in the inbreeding wasp Euodynerus foraminatus Saussure (Hymenoptera: Vespidae)
Article Abstract:
The single-locus complementary sex determination (sl-CSD), which determines sex at a single polymorphic locus, is examined. In the solitary hunting wasp, Euodynerus foraminatus, a species suspected of having sl-CSD, inbreeding is common due to high incidence of mating at natal nests.
