Year of the Panda
Article Abstract:
China's central government has taken an initiative to enhance the population of panda by increasing the number of reserves and banning logging of natural forests. Pandas might be taken off the International Union for the Conversation of Nature and Natural Resource's (IUCN's) Red List of endangered species, as their population is increasing steadily.

China is planning to plant trees in 35 million hectares by 2050, which is the world's largest reforestation campaign, in order to control erosion. Though, Beijing will continue to suffer sandstorms despite these antidesertification campaigns.
