Neuroblast formation and patterning during early brain development in Drosophila
Article Abstract:
The developing central nervous system of Drosophila is used as a model to uncover the mechanisms leading to pattern and cell diversity. New insights into the principles of early brain development in Drosophila are provided by recent comprehensive descriptions of neuroblasts formation, gene expression and segmentation.

New tool for an old problem: Can RNAi efficiently resolve the issue of genetic redundancy?
Article Abstract:
RNA interference (RNAi) has become a generally accepted tool for inhibiting gene expression in many laboratory organisms and has changed the landscape of biological research. Detailed research indicated that RNAi technique has still to prove its effect in challenging situations, like that of genetic redundancy.

Chromatin looping mediates boundary element promoter interactions
Article Abstract:
The in vivo evidence of chromatin looping and boundary element promoter interaction is presented. The function of a boundary element within the cis-regulatory region of the Abdominal-B (Abd-B) gene of Drosophila melanogaster is analyzed.
