Congress agrees to comply with 11 job and safety laws

Congress passed a law requiring its members to comply with 11 occupational safety standards on Jan 23, 1995. The law will cover 36,000 public employees, but is less strict than private sector health and safety laws on civil rights grievances and safety violations.

EEOC turns to mediation
Article Abstract:
The EEOC is using mediation instead of lawsuits in some of its discrimination cases, and will incorporate permanent use of mediation in 1996. It will not use mediation in all cases, but in those it deems appropriate to expedite the resolution process.
