A forest fire starts again
Article Abstract:
Australia's regional forest agreement (RFA) process, which allows the forest industry to selectively log native forests, is in jeopardy. While green parties have always been against RFAs, the Labor Party has committed itself to phasing out all logging operations by 2003, and this policy has caused infighting within the party over the favoring of special interest environmental groups over timber workers and their unions.
