A new role for the Post Office: an investigation into issues behind strategic change at Royal Mail

Significant shifts in the corporate climate drove the restructuring of the UK firm Royal Mail. These included changes in technology, organization culture and change management. New strategic goals such as teamwork, empowerment, risk, communication and innovation were developed in response to these shifts. Remaining problems include financial reform and labor disputes.

Total quality management for the public sector should incorporate not only quality issues but innovation and creativity as well. While quality is primarily concerned with service delivery, innovation focuses on new approaches and creativity targets discoveries and modifications.
