Several industries sell their knowledge of the product market rather than relying only on production or services for revenue. AMR Corp, parent of American Airlines Inc, sells access to its computerized reservation system, which helps fill less desirable empty seats at lower prices. Other industries that sell knowledge include seismic prospector Schlumberger, which gives advice to petroleum companies on the location of reserves.

Avon calling

The Avon Descent is an annual whitewater race started in 1973 by businessmen who wanted to stimulate tourism. It is held between Northam and Perth, and is one of the longer whitewater competitions in the world at 133 kilometers. The race includes both motor and paddle boats and attracts over 600 entries and thousands of tourists. Prizes are awarded from a $20,000 pool.
