A nonparametric test of attribute interaction in consumer utility using graded comparisons
Article Abstract:
A nonparametric theory-oriented specification test on consumer responses to graded comparison survey data is proposed. The small sample tested showed that if a subtractive integration rule is used in judging paired comparisons, utility may be modelled as additively separable. The experiment suggests that people do not often use a mix of a multiplicative utility function and a subtractive or ratio integration rule. The power of this test on other choice models needs more research.

Analysis of the reliability of preference ranking data
Article Abstract:
Theoretical developments in factors for ranking data are described. An empirical analysis is used to examine the reliability of stated preference data. The hypothesis that a decrease in the stability of ranking information is in direct proportion to rank for a ranking of four alternatives is strongly supported by the empirical results. Consequently, including rank-specific scale and other bias parameters is the best way to combine the ranks.

A filed study comparing online and offline data collection methods for identifying product attribute preferences using conjoint analysis
Article Abstract:
A study is carried out to examine whether aggregate attribute preferences in a conjoint analysis task differed between online and offline data collection methods. The online data collection method was judged superior to offline method on the basis of internal consistency and predictive validity and these findings also support the use of Internet/Web-enabled technology for conjoint analysis data collection.
