A resource-based view of product development
Article Abstract:
A resource-based model analyzes product development by shifting traditional focus on agents of product development to resources and the different capabilities involved. The dimensions of integrative and functional capabilities are identified so that performance drivers in product development are better understood. However, three limitations will have to be addressed to understand fully the role of capabilities in the final outcome. These are the undermined robustness of the model, the shallow list of resource variables and the measurements of performance.
