A realistic look at the economy
Article Abstract:
The early weeks of 1992 will see many forecasts on the business outlook for the year. Most will reflect the uncertainty that surrounded economic forecasting in late 1991. An exception is the annual forecast of the US Chamber of Commerce, as a comparison of predictions and trends shows.

The US has changed greatly since the last time it prepared to enter a new century. For example, in 1900 the population was only 76 million, compared to a projected 275 million for the year 2000. Other differences are discussed.
