A tax system by design rather than accident
Article Abstract:
The Review of Business Taxation proposes needed changes to the Australian tax system. Reform of the capital gains tax should encourage Australian entrepreneurship in the increasingly competitive international business world. Replacing an outdated system, the proposed simplified tax structure should benefit small business enterprises.

The Australian taxpayer's funds that subsidize investor's negative gearing could be better spent to benefit the community. It was seen that the negative gearing distorts the marke, leads to economic inefficiencies and also negative gearing of personal investments carries a real tax cost for the community.
