AXA Asia Pacific, an insurance and wealth management company, has overcome it's bad financial results as the company's 2003 results are indicating a $926 million profits, up by 180.6% over previous year. The reasons for the company's good financial outcomes as well as its bad performance in the 1990s, is discussed.

There are 85 newcomers to this year's list of the top 500 public companies but three are ranked outside the biggest 100 companies in terms of net profits. Most of the companies are described as the small-capitalization stocks (small caps) whose share prices and earnings are the most volatile on the stock market.
