CPA Australia planning to publish a directory of certified accountants suited to be appointed to boards, and recommends that at least one accountant be on corporate boards, to ensure objectivity. This move is in response to public concern over various scandals in Australia, but having more accountants cannot solve various other problems for the benefit of shareholders.
