Benchmarking and its value

Assessing the performance of different areas of a company's business, in order to recognize the strong and the weak, is the prime value of benchmarking. Business benchmarking has progressed to three forms that are Business Process Benchmarking, Internal Benchmarking and External Benchmarking.

The benchmarking information helps to compare the company's performance with the others and identify the gaps. The various approaches recommended for the positive, negative and neutral gaps are illustrated.
