Agency costs, institutions, learning, and taxation in venture capital contracting
Article Abstract:
A study of the type of finance used by Canadian entrepreneurial firms from 1991 to 2003 is presented. The study is on the Canadian and US venture capital and private equity finance that was utilized by these firms in that period. The factors such as agency problems and costs, taxation of capital gains, usage of different types of contracts to understand the implications of each one and market conditions all affected these venture capital contracts.

The evaluation of the factors affecting returns on venture capital investments in American biotechnology companies is presented.The development of an empirical model to examine the variation in returns, on venture capital investments made in American biotechnology companies before initial public offerings, is described.
