Results also show that many CEOs' compensation gains far surpass those being enjoyed by the workforce at large. Rupert Murdoch, Australia's highest-paid top executive, received A$7.96 million in the year ended Jun 30, 1997, despite a A$3.4 billion decline in News Corporation's market capitalization.
