Australian retailing giants, Woolworths and Coles Myer, are fighting for supremacy in retail liquor market. The recent purchase of Australian Leisure & Hospitality by Woolworth was followed up by expansion of Dan Murphy's liquor superstores. Coles Myer will certainly not let go of its share of the profitable liquor market. The liquor producers will, however, be losers in the process.

The main goal of the reforms is improving the retailer's bottom line, because the sector is battling with falling margins in an already low-margin business.
