BellSouth faces probes by states on win-back; regulators are examining allegations by upstarts of anticompetitive moves
Article Abstract:
Regulators in Georgia, Florida and Alabama are probing allegations that BellSouth Corp. uses anticompetitive practices to win back customers who have switched their local phone service to rivals. BellSouth suspended its win-back programs in May to look into the complaints, but reinstated the programs except in Georgia and Florida, where they are still suspended. BellSouth blames some of the problems on a telemarketing firm it hired, and says it remains committed to the win-back programs.
