Unisys expects profit to trail forecasts
Article Abstract:
Unisys forecasts a 13% decline in 2000 second quarter revenue, from $1.89 bil down to $1.64 bil. 70% of revenue is from computer services, a change from hardware sales led by CEO Lawrence Weinbach. Company debt has dropped from $2.27 bil in 1996 to $1 bil this year. Also, last year's results were higher because of one-time Y2K-related contracts.

Big computer makers are expected to report spotty results for quarter
Article Abstract:
Large computer manufacturers will post mixed sales figures for 1st qtr 1996, indicating continued growth in the server and workstation markets but a general decline in PC sales. Sales of PCs grew nearly 20% in the quarter, less than analysts expected, and vendors are using strong sales in other areas to compensate for the slowdown in growth. IBM is expected to record profits of $1.36 billion for the period, and the steady growth primarily results from the sales of services, mainframes and servers. HP expects to post a net income of $795 million for the quarter. Compaq does not have the same diversity of products and services as other large manufacturers, and both revenue and profit for the industry's PC sales leader are expected to decline.
