Boeing hit by machinists strike

The International Assoc of Machinists and Aerospace Workers rejected a three-year contract with Boeing Co on Oct 6, 1995, which led to a strike by 32,500 workers, primarily in the Seattle, WA, area. The use of outside contractors and hikes in medical deductibles were the main issues.

Nation's rail workers go on strike
Article Abstract:
Thousands of Canadian railroad workers went on strike on Mar 18, 1995, over issues related to wages and job security. The three railroads affected were: Via Rail Canada, CP Rail System and Canadian National Railways. Ford Motor Co and other major employers were hurt by the strike.

Congressional intervention halts railroad labor dispute

Pres Bush signed legislation passed by Congress to end a two-day railroad work stoppage on Jun 26, 1992. Approximately 40 railroads had responded to a strike by the International Assn of Machinists and Aerospace Workers by shutting down.
