Card tricks
Article Abstract:
Big credit card companies are pushing Australian banks to convert five hundred thousand electronic point-of-sale (EFTPOS) terminals and ten thousand automated teller machines (ATMs) to read smart cards, resulting in the banks facing a bill of at least four hundred million dollars. This conversion is required to prevent criminal gangs from downloading information from the magnetic strip of a credit card and copy it on to a fake card.
