Australia's BHP mining company is facing a financial crisis at its Zimbabwe Hartley platinum mine. The mine has had unusual difficulties such as poor ground conditions, which have required extensive and expensive roof-support systems. The additional safety equipment and procedures that were needed have resulted in higher operations costs and slowed production.
