New AICPA Chairman Speaks to the Board
Article Abstract:
The new chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants is interviewed. The major question concerns the hypothetical but common board appointment of a new board member unacquainted with auditing and accounting policy. It is the job of the auditing committee to provide communication between the board and the outside auditors. The audit committee's responsibility is to choose the auditor. Another responsibility is over input of the financial statement. The audit committee has another important role, in its liaison with management.
