Chemical (specialty)
Article Abstract:
Low earnings and poor share-price momentum have made the stocks of the specialty chemical industry untimely in early 1999 as low demand and competition has made pricing difficult. This is expected to continue for the next several quarters, but competitive factors will force the industry to consolidate, resulting in cost savings and improved profits. Some of these shares have good price appreciation potential for the next three to five years once international chemical product demand recovers.

Article Abstract:
Several of the companies which comprise the specialty chemicals industry have seen their corporate profits decline as a result of international economic difficulties and unfavorable currency effects. The industry will see a challenging operating environment in the late 1990s, also, though a global economic recession is not likely to occur. Several of these stocks have good investment potential for the next three to five years.
