Article Abstract:
A survey was done to determine the role of the economist in forecasting. Certain forecasting techniques are apparently widely used for certain functions. The most widely used quantitative technique for deposit forecasting was multiple regression. About thirty per cent of the economists' forecasts used judgement only. Simultaneous use of management judgement was used with the forecasting techniques for each planning variable. The role of the economist is crucial to the forecasting process.
