Consensus forecasts of financial institutions
Article Abstract:
A survey of financial forecasters in the fall of 1998 projects slower economic activity in 1999. The respondents foresee that the US economy will continue to expand although at a relatively slower rate and that the lower Federal Funds rate will result in declining funds rate. Moreover, the financial forecasters predict that inflation will remain low as a result of a weakening economy and modest money supply growth. Lastly, they professed that business investment in plant and equipment will contribute to growth.
