Miner bids for a fast finish at Olympic Dam
Article Abstract:
WMC Resources is expanding its $1.5 billion Olympic Dam project. This mine will represent 34% of WMC's assets when it is completed. The company has had problems with several of its other mining projects so the success of Olympic Dam could cause stock market investors to re-evaluate their perceptions of WMC. Connection costs are ahead of budget but the project is expected to begin production as much as five months before its published schedule.

Diamond claims do not last forever
Article Abstract:
Riotinto may lose the Ellendale diamond mine in Western Australia to Kimberly Diamond Co. because of negligence in renewing an ownership extension. Should the court decide Riotinto's 114 claims are invalid, Kimberly is prepared to demonstrate its right to the mine or bid alongside other mining companies to win access.
