Coopers & Lybrand Brazilian affiliate defects to Andersen
Article Abstract:
The former Brazilian practice of Coopers & Lybrand has defected from its major merger with Price Waterhouse and has instead merged with Arthur Andersen & Co. Coopers & Lybrand Brazil approved of the deal with Arthur Andersen. The practice posted approximately $55 million in revenues in 1997 and has around 650 employees. The two practices will produce approximately $140 million in yearly revenue.

Deloitte & Touche's Cook is retiring; Copeland, McCracken will succeed him
Article Abstract:
J. Michael Cook is retiring from his post of chairman and CEO of Deloitte & Touche. He will be succeeded by James E. Copeland as CEO and Douglas M. McCracken as chairman. Copeland comes to the post from the auditing side of the business, McCracken from the consulting side. Cook said he wants to spend more time with his family, but added that he is not taking his name out of the phone book.

Pricewaterhouse issues global invitation
Article Abstract:
Two of the Interpublic agencies, Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos and Ammirati Puris Lintas, created the first ad campaign since the two accounting firms merged into PricewaterhouseCoopers. The $50 million campaign has a tagline, Join Us, that is meant to attract new clients but also 52,000 new employees to make its growth possible in the global marketplace.
