Ford rolls out new model of corporate culture
Article Abstract:
BLI has been in the works for two years. Ford Motors' Business Leadership Initiative program is underway, from the top down. Each level of Ford's 55,000 managers will train the level below them, in business matters and how to put them into 100-day action items or projects with expected results. The program's purpose is to make a very large company more responsive to customers and in turn make a difference to the bottom line.

GM expects higher margins on pickups
Article Abstract:
General Motors is determined to upgrade or close facilities in order to become more profitable. It is working diligently with the UAW in these efforts. Part of the plan is to get subassemblies from suppliers so that GM assembles less of each vehicle, thus reducing the need for as many machines or people. The company hopes to make more profit on new full-size pickups and SUVs but predictions have to ride out reality.
