Corporate Flying Boom
Article Abstract:
Corporations have acquired a wide variety of aircraft. Since Congress deregulated the airline industry in 1979, commercial carriers have curtailed flights to many airports. In order to improve executive mobility, corporations have bought turboprops and executive jets. This surge in purchases gave a boom to aircraft sales in what would have been a depressed market. The trend is to build new plants in small communities away from metropolitan centers. The companies are forced to reach these distant offices and plants. Twelve states and numerous cities have seen commercial flights drastically curtailed.
