Cultural project management: why the Japanese are first to market with high-tech products
Article Abstract:
A consensus-oriented culture gives Japanese corporations a significant competitive edge over the US corporations in getting products to market on a timely basis. Japanese workers help improve their teams by making suggestions. Knowledge is evenly distributed among team members, leaving the managers with the role of facilitating communication and consensus building. Furthermore, Japanese workers make decisions only after thorough discussion and consensus building which guarantees successful projects.
