Dinosaur ad invades papers' editorial space
Article Abstract:
"Shadow ads" will be new for most newspapers, though not for MediaNews's Los Angeles Daily News. Across several papers' stock pages will be a large shadow of a pteranodon, a dinosaur to advertise Universal Studios' 'Jurassic Park III.' Other papers to give the promotion a try are Gannett's Asbury Park Press and Hollinger International's Chicago Sun-Times in addition to the LA Daily News. Usually ads have borders and are never found on editorial pages; this bending of rules on a trial basis came about because of slumping ad sales which severely hurts newspapers' bottom lines.
