Serbia initiated a cease-fire in Bosnia-Herzegovina May 13, 1992, apparently influenced by efforts of the international community to isolate Yugoslavia. United Nations Sec General Boutros Boutros-Ghali stated that the fierce fighting in Bosnia ruled out deployment of UN peacekeeping forces.

United Nations backs war-crimes panel for Bosnia

The UN Security Council agreed to a US proposal to establish a commission to investigate war crimes in Bosnia-Herzegovina. US officials reported that up to 3,000 people have been killed in detention camps run by Serbs near Brcko in Bosnia.
