The first presidential election in Nigeria since 1983 was held on Jun 12, 1993, but the results were not released pending an investigation of fraud charges. Candidate Moshood Abiola appeared to have the lead over Bashir Tofa.

Perez suspended, faces corruption trial
Article Abstract:
Venezuelan Pres Perez was suspended after the Supreme Court was given authority to hear a case on Perez's misappropriation of government funds. The public generally supported the suspension. Perez maintained his innocence.
