Electrical equipment industry
Article Abstract:
Business trends for domestic electrical equipment companies are mixed, withthe European economy expected to continue to decline until late 1994 and other economies expected to grow. Untimely stock issues for this industry group surpass issues considered to be timely. Home appliances have seen an increase in orders due to strength in residential construction. General Electric and Emerson Electric have posted strong gains in their appliance and appliance parts businesses because of this trend.

Article Abstract:
It is difficult to offer investment advice for the electrical equipment industry as an entity because the diverse type of products produced is reflective of the mixed economic valuations for the diverse companies involved. During 1996 some companies performed at better than record highs, especially larger, quality, diversified companies. Investors might look for companies with high Safety ratings for the best yielding investments.

Article Abstract:
Short-term prospects for the electrical equipment industry are expected to be good in the industrial and international segments, while domestic consumer markets are expected to languish due to interest-rate sensitivity. Few stocks have attractive investment potential in the immediate future due to their poor timeliness, but over the longer term, they are expected to supply solid returns.
