Evaluation of the impact of European Community research programmes upon industrial competitiveness
Article Abstract:
An analysis of industrial competitiveness is presented. The analysis focuses on the establishment of a definite meaning for competitiveness and on the development of basic concepts underlining its dynamics. These concepts are measured against standard industrial research programs and specifies the EC Framework Programme. It is shown that firms must properly evaluate technological progresses which would improve industrial competitiveness.

Cross-Pacific internationalization of R&D by U.S. and Japanese firms
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the developments involving multinational firms' attempts to coordinate industrial research (R&D)is presented. The analysis focuses on the role of R&D in corporate organizationand presents the case of American and Japanese firms as an example. Japanese multinationals have been well entrenched in developing international r and d centers. American firms are more domestic-oriented in pursuing R&D.
