Executives' suicides deepen scandals
Article Abstract:
The bribery scandals in Italy gained more attention after the apparent suicides of Gardini and Cagliari. The two men allegedly were involved in a $80-million payoff arrangement. The financial problems of Gardini's firm, Ferruzzi Finanziaria S.p.A., are discussed.

Italian voters back government reforms

Italians supported government reform in a referendum held Apr 18-19, 1993. Seven of the ministers of Socialist Premier Giuliano Amato were involved in the political corruption scandal, and Amato submitted his resignation on Apr 22, 1993.
