Fashion marketers are starting to target overweight teenage girls, a group that they used to ignore in the past. Numerous companies are targeting their marketing strategies for these girls as a result of the strong performance of large-sized women's fashions recently. The sales of these type of fashions now constitute one-fourth of the entire women's apparel market. Since 1994, sales for sizes 16 and higher have increased by 20%.

Wal-Mart posts a 27% profit increase to $1 billion in its fiscal third quarter

Wal-Mart Stores' Q3 net income increase of 27% surprised some analysts because the company is so large, but has growth usually exhibited by start-ups. The increase represents income of $1 billion for the fiscal quarter ended October 31st. Operating efficiencies overall have been improving and 4th quarter results are expected to be good as well.
