Empowering the cost management process
Article Abstract:
The Institute of Management Accountants is holding a Strategic Cost Management Conference in Apr. 1997. The conference, which will focus on how to empower the cost management process, is inspired by a two-part article by Robin Cooper. This article describes the increasing need for management accounting information as a result of efforts to apply cost management techniques and impart these techniques to managers and supervisors. The event is intended to teach management accountants as well as corporate managers to design advanced cost management techniques, including activity-based costing, treatment protocols, target costing, kaizen costing and harnessing the entrepreneurial spirit. Those who attend the conference will receive three books related to the topic of cost management.
