Ford reports stronger-than-expected earnings
Article Abstract:
Ford Motors reported fourth quarter earnings of $1.04 billion, down 41.9% from year-ago figures. The US auto giant now has $23.81 billion in cash holdings. Ford, along with Italy's Fiat S.p.A., is said to have made a bid to buy Sweden's Volvo. Volvo is thought to be much more interested in being bought by Ford than by Fiat for two reasons: (1) management would likely be left intact in Sweden if Ford bought it and (2) Ford has more money to put into the business.
