There are 1.4 million operating businesses in Australia, and foreign companies create less than one-fifth of the nation's revenue. The share of foreign companies in nation's employment is just 6.6 percent and this lower employment levels are due to the greater capital intensity of foreign companies and to the mix of industries in which they operate.
