FPL asks court to be released from CMP deal
Article Abstract:
FPL Group, the parent of Florida Power and Light, has petitioned a U.S. District Court to nullify a contract to buy power plants from Central Maine Power. The reasons for the case are recent Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rulings which have lowered the value of the plants. The rulings affect how the New England Power Pool system is managed, with new policies promoting greater competition and access to the grid.
